Vacation Bible School is back for 2022!

Ready to cook up some fun? Cokesbury’s Food Truck Party VBS invites children of all ages to get on a roll with God as a parade of Food Trucks rolls into their neighborhood for the summer’s biggest party!

This VBS invites children to pray as Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6:11; “Give us this day our daily bread.” These words serve as a reminder that everything we have comes from God — and that it’s by turning to God in prayer that all of our daily needs are met.

At the center of the Food Truck Party is a special food truck called “On a Roll.” Here, Kids (or “Chefs”) will learn from the food truck’s Top Chef, along with DJ Cupcake (an adorable cupcake puppet), about the Daily Specials (Daily Learnings), which are lines from the well-loved prayer that teaches us to turn to God to meet our needs.

Sunday-June 19, 2022-Thursday June 23, 2022 from 6:00pm-8:30pm

Lenten Study – Book of Ecclesiastes (March 2nd – April 6)

Do the deep and perplexing issues of life intrigue you? Have you contemplated what is the meaning of life? Are you perplexed about how to establish the priorities in your life? Does it concern you that personal happiness seems to be the driving force behind the direction our society is taking today and are you confused about how to respond to someone when they confront you with this ideology?
The intriguing book of Ecclesiastes, part of the wisdom literature of the Old Testament, delves into the answers to the questions stated above. The message of Ecclesiastes may appear perplexing when viewed with a casual glance but when explored in greater depth it unlocks the true purpose and meaning to life. For those who are willing to search its truths and mine the depths of the wisdom shared, a new appreciation for life will become evident and allow for true fulfillment in the midst of the chaos of confusion that is being emphasized today.
Join us for our Lenten study this year as we explore the often-overlooked book of Ecclesiastes. The study will begin at 7pm on Ash Wednesday, March 2, and continue every Wednesday evening through April 6 (child care will be provided). The study will be a discussion format in a small group setting in our fellowship hall. There will not be a soup & sandwich meal prior to the study, just the study. I hope you will consider attending this interesting study and I pray that you will be challenged and encouraged as this book of wisdom is explored.

God’s Peace,
Pastor Mike

CVZ Movie Night Presents: Breakthrough

CVZ will be hosting a special screening of the movie “Breakthrough” starring Chrissy Metz. Tragedy strikes when Joyce Smith’s adopted son, John, falls through the ice on a frozen lake in Missouri. Trapped underwater for more than 15 minutes, rescuers bring John back to the surface and rush him to the nearest hospital. While doctors fear the worst, the 14-year-old boy continues to fight for his life as Joyce, her husband and their pastor stay by his bedside and pray for a miracle.

Based on the impossible true story, this film will be shown on February 25 at 6:30 PM. Admission is free and snacks will be provided.

Counter Culture: A Discussion Group

Join us on Wednesdays at 7 PM for a discussion group on the book, “Counter Culture: Following Christ in an Anti-Christ Age” by David Platt. This group will meet for 6 weeks (January 12 – February 16) in the upstairs Sunday School room.  We encourage you to read the book between now and the start of the study, but the outline for each week will be sent out if you prefer to read the chapter(s) corresponding to the discussion each week at that time.  This is not a “book study”, but the book will be referenced heavily and it is a great book to read even if you don’t plan to attend the group.
